Girona and Tossa de Mar Day Trip from Barcelona

This beautifully crafted day trip from Barcelona visits two of Catalonia's most distinctive and rewarding destinations — the remarkably preserved medieval city of Girona and the stunning Costa Brava coastal town of Tossa de Mar — combining the architectural richness of one of Spain's finest historic city centres with the azure Mediterranean beauty of one of the most picturesque fortified coastal villages in Europe. Girona's extraordinarily intact medieval heritage — the Jewish Quarter of El Call, the Romanesque and Gothic Cathedral, the colourful houses of the Onyar riverbank, and the ancient city walls — creates one of the most rewarding and photographically beautiful historic city experiences in all of Spain.

Tossa de Mar provides the day's most visually spectacular and emotionally immediate encounter with the Costa Brava's legendary coastal beauty — its medieval fortified walls and towers rising directly from the rocky Mediterranean headland above a bay of translucent blue water that has drawn artists, writers, and travellers since Marc Chagall famously described it as a 'blue paradise'. The contrast between Girona's urban medieval richness and Tossa de Mar's dramatic coastal setting creates a day of exceptional geographical and aesthetic variety that reveals the extraordinary diversity of Catalonia's cultural and natural landscape within a single thoroughly satisfying excursion from Barcelona.
